Partnership for Good Between Wilsen Initiative and Hope Raisers Initiative

There is more we can achieve through collaboration than working is silos or in competition with each other, especially in the creative sector and social enterprise venture. One of the challenges is in finding the ideal partner that you share the common ideology around a subject matter, the values and the vision. Crafting a win-win balance is another hurdle that might come your way if you miss to connect with the ideal partner.

 Good News!

We are happy to announce that Wilsen initiative and Hope Raiser Initiative have found common synergies to partner together in running the first pilot of Women Make It Happen program which will be hosted at the Hope Raisers office located at Baba Dogo Bega Kwa Bega centre.

About Women Make IT Happen program

This is a platform to train, mentor and encourage women from Eastland’s in Nairobi, Kenya to take a more pro-active approach in leadership, business and technology. We will be hosting training boot camps (master classes) and events around the three thematic areas. We target women from the age of 17yrs to 35 years.

Due to the high cost of education, especially after secondary education, not many youth and women from informal settlements in Eastland’s are in a position to train themselves further to the desired level and the lucky few who have been able to get a college or university training finds it tough to venture into self-employment in a job shrinking economy.

The situation is even worse for school dropouts who face a number of challenges and will do anything to survive within the many chains of disruptions and evolution that is taking place, it is important for anyone who wants to stay relevant to identify areas for growth without the exception of business, technology and leadership.

Women Make It Happen – The Entrepreneur the Network

It was a great pleasure to connect with Mrs. Helder Oduor who was one of my students at NairoBits in the year 2007/08. It’s now 12 years since we met, I was very surprised and honored when she reached out to me on social media with an offer for a free cake that was to be delivered to one of my sessions.

On 2nd February 2020 we had a great session at Hope Raisers Initiative in Baba Dogo about how to craft business ideas as creative either as a musician, painter, graphic designer, DJ etc. It was the perfect timing to host Helder as a guest speaker, she shared her journey in business starting with her desire to start a business to the current status.
Helder’s journey started as a creative from graphic designer to owning a business in bakery among other ventures.
